One of our development systems was recently upgraded to EHP5. We had also completed the upgrade using one sandbox system which is a copy of DEV system.
After the systems were upgraded to EHP5, we are finding that the Program RFCEXEC vanishing from EXE directory. And Because of this, XI connectivity fails. Is this due to the EHP5 upgrade? Please help me in this.

I installed a new permanent license on the system on ERP6 running MAXDB 7.7.04 28 and all was working well until i stopsap and rebooted the system.I am now getting an error Login in failed check license key
i logged on as SAP* and checked trxn slicense the license shows that its installed but when i looked under the section Licenses in the database its empty .It looks like the database is not checking the license.
if i try to install a temporary license it says rc of SsfEncode: 11 = SSF_API_ENCODE_FAILED = ASN.1 encodin
Any ideas to fix this problem will be welcome as users cannot log in now.
I have a follow up question as well on the above subject, I found contradicting information. As per Note 822239 point 14F SQLDBC version should be at 7.7.07 build 41 or higher for all platforms (we are at 7.7.7.032). In another note, 1716826, it says we can go for Kernel 721_EXT as long as we are at least version 7.7.04.09 of the MaxDB Client software (SQLDBC). I thought if pre-requisite is missing for 720_REL kernel upgrade, it should also miss for 721_EXT. Any thoughts please.
Also, per PAM(screen dump attached), Kernel 721_EXT is for database version 7.8 however note 1716826 again contradicts this. Please advise if we can go for 721_REL_EXT Patch 100 directly rather than going for 720_REL Patch 402 patch.

We have completed with the upgrade but before doing the LC upgrade we need to upload the data to the LC using the /SAPAPO/OM_LC_UPGRADE_70, while doing this it gives an error for connectivity to the LC. Hi all, We are planning to move our 4.6C systems (running SAP DB and MaxDB) onto different servers, and as part of the move the hostnames will be changed. The OS levels will remain the same so we plan to do a backup and restore rather than a clean install followed by a system copy.
I have found SAP note 8307 which details the procedure for doing a hostname change on an R/3 host server. The note mentions Oracle adaptations required but does not mention anything about SAP DB or MaxDB does this SAP DB/MaxDB are unaffected by a hostname change?
My worry is that note 8307 at the beginning says it cannot guarantee the completeness of the note, and that a DB reconfiguration might be necessary . What do they mean by DB reconfiguration in this context???
Has anyone done a hostname change using SAP DB and/or MaxDB and what things do I need to look out for?

i am installing Content server 640
I created a xuser with command with user sqdsid.
xuser -d SQ0 -n scserv -U control -u control,<password>
My query is that while i run the scripts for stopdb or startdb with
xuser , it gives me error sayin that xuser not found.
I tried to list the xuser which gives me the below output:

The maxDB database is not starting,
When I type
dbmcli -n mgiusdgrc1 -d CME -u superdba,<passwd> db_online, I get the following error.
Error! Connection failed to node <hostname> for database CME:
-24700, ERR_DBMSRV_NOSTART: Could not start DBM Server.
-24832, ERR_SHMNOTAVAILABLE: Shared memory not available.
-24827, ERR_SHMALLOCFAILED: ID E:\sapdb\data\wrk\CME.dbm.shi, requested size 260010,
Opening shared memory file E:\sapdb\data\wrk\CME.dbm.shi failed, rc = 5.
I tried to rename the file CME.dbm.shi, but it did not work.
Currently we have 8 GB of physical memory RAM allocated on Wndows 2008 Server and paging size specified is 16 GB.
1- Can anyone help in resolving the above shared memory error?
2- Are there any logfiles and specific error messages that I need to check, to resolve the MaxDB startup issue error.

1- After install of content server and maxdb, how do I find out the maxdb is running or not?
2- Is there a command to check status of maxdb instance and name of database of maxdb?
3- How do I start maxdb with dbmcli?
4- What is the parameter file of maxdb and it's location (just like Oracle has a parameter file init.ora)?

Hi Experts,
we have two SAP content servers:
- An old one Win2k3 (32bit) with MaxDB 7.6.00.18 and nearly 200GB of data
- A new Win2008R2 server (64bit) with SAP MaxDB 7.8.02.29 and 150GB of data
We´d like to move all data from the old 7.6 DB onto the new server.
Does anyone have a "best practice" for that?
On both CS we do a daily full backup into the filesystem.
Is there a possibility to recover the 7.6 backup on the "new" server into the 7.8 environment?

Any further suggestions? Export / import?
