When I stop a SAP system running with maxdb 7.7.04.28 using stopsap command, a crash of maxdb occurs and the dump info is written to the DIAGHISTORY directory. There was no dump with maxdb 7.6.

A part of the KnlMesg is below. First part is in my opinion the disconnect of the disp+work processes. For some reason the normal shutdown is interupted by a SIGILL signal, and then the shutdown is escalated to an ABORT. The output of the stopsap command does not give any errors or warnings, neither does stopdb.log.

Does anybody have an idea what the cause of the dump is?

There was a need to move one virtual server running ERP on MaxDB to another vserver and change a hostname.

After move was done and hostname changed I have trouble starting ERP, sapstart always stops at maxdb start part.

After further investigation I realized I need to change entries in xuser file, which I did. However, again, MaxDB won't start, startdb.log message is:

I am MaxDB newbie, before I worked only with Oracle, so I do not even know where are MaxDB keeps relevant logs.

Any idea what else needs to be done when hostname is changed or what to do to resolve this isse?

I installed a new permanent license on the system on ERP6 running MAXDB 7.7.04 28 and all was working well until i stopsap and rebooted the system.I am  now getting an error  Login in failed check license key

i logged on as SAP* and checked trxn slicense the license shows that its installed but when i looked under the section Licenses in the database its empty .It looks like the database is not checking the license.

if i try to install a temporary license  it says rc of SsfEncode: 11 = SSF_API_ENCODE_FAILED = ASN.1 encodin

Any ideas to fix this problem will be welcome as users cannot log in now.

Previously in the machine SCM-ICH was installed. I uninstalled SCM-ICH, but I did'nt uninstall livecache.

I just deleted the contents of /sapdb/ directory. The machine is IBM-AIX server.

I checked on various forums & the solution offered was to increase the heap size .

What is an OMS version ? some kind of view produced by a SCM application

An APO/SCM application can create a so-called OMS version (f.e. when transactional simulations are used). Contrary to a Consistent View an OMS version can exist after the end of a transaction and can be used by the APO/SCM application further on. One of our development systems was recently upgraded to EHP5. We had also completed the upgrade using one sandbox system which is a copy of DEV system.

After the systems were upgraded to EHP5, we are finding that the Program RFCEXEC vanishing from EXE directory. And Because of this, XI connectivity fails. Is this due to the EHP5 upgrade? Please help me in this.

We have a strange problem:

We successfully installed the EHP4 upgrade for ERP 6.0 with the EHPinstaller on our central instance. We set up an distributed system, the database is on Linux with MaxDB.

After that I tried to logon with the SAPGUI on the SAP server, but I receive directly the message "SAP System Message: a table is unknown or does not exist." So a logon on the system IS NOT possible.

In the MMC Syslogs I see that there are 2 errors with starting the SAP server:

- SAP Basis System: Run-time error "DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_UNKNOWN                (ERROR)

- Database: Table D010ENH    does not exist in the database with ID R/3             (WARNING)             

These two errors are occuring several times in the syslogs. The server nodes in die SAPMMC are running all on green.

What can I do there? Any ideas? Haven't found any notes on this problem.

We are trying to install a new MAXDB 7.8 on a new HP-UX 11.31 VPAR.

The installation is being run as root user.

The installation errors with the command and output below.

so backup is failing because "cannot open xparam file". i have searched the whole system. couldn't fine anything releant there. i have searched service marketplace and understood that X_PARAM is used for APO 1.1. this in SCM 7.0 . so not relevant.

google is also failed for this.

so this is the last resort. please help.

We have one PRD system with MAX DB ,we want to restore the complete data backup from PRD to DEV system which one installed newly for testing purpose.

Hi Experts

we have a SAP content server 6.3 running on 32 bit windows on SAPDB 7.3 .

We are planning to move this to a Unix box ( AIX or Solaris .. not decided yet). Is there a comprehensive guide available about the procedure we need to follow ?

1. Do we need to upgrade the source DB before migration ?

2. As per MaxDB admin guide database copy from IA32 to unix does not work and as per note 962019 we need to use loadercli. Any tips on loadercli use would be welcome

3. Any relevant information from past experience of similar exercise

4. Does SAP support this migration if we do not buy the MaxDB migration service from SAP ?

I'm facing issue in starting maxdb.i have stopped hanged sap sessions .when i try to start i'm getting below errors.

I have a follow up question as well on the above subject, I found contradicting information. As per Note 822239 point 14F SQLDBC version should be at 7.7.07 build 41 or higher for all platforms (we are at 7.7.7.032).  In another note, 1716826, it says we can go for Kernel 721_EXT as long as we are at least version 7.7.04.09 of the MaxDB Client software (SQLDBC). I thought if pre-requisite is missing for 720_REL kernel upgrade, it should also miss for 721_EXT. Any thoughts please.

Also, per PAM(screen dump attached), Kernel 721_EXT is for database version 7.8 however note 1716826 again contradicts this. Please advise if we can go for 721_REL_EXT Patch 100 directly rather than going for 720_REL Patch 402 patch.

Hello,

i'm pretty new to SAP and MaxDB. Unfortunalty we had a server crash and i had to reinstall SAP ECC 6.0 along with MaxDB 7.6 as it was delivered in these versions and installed on the crashed mashine.

The new mashine also has a new name. This seems to be the problem while trying to recover the database.

MaxDB Studio gives me the following error trying to recover first the volume, then the logs:

There does not seem to be any Redhat specific tuning settings (though a couple of Suse recommendations), except for a general mention of all Linux systems with this direct I/O suggestion:

"As of Linux Version 2.6, we recommend that you set the parameter to the value YES rather than DEFAULT NO.

Further notes on this topic:

The parameters I am wanting to tune are in /etc/sysctl.conf, so since there does not seem to be any Livecache specific parameters, I was going to just take the general recommendations from Note 941735 - SAP memory management for 64-bit Linux systems and set our parameters as follows:

- kernel.shmall

As a configuration recommendation, kernel. shmall can be configured as the amount of virtual memory in the Linux system (RAM + Swap).

- kernel.shmmax

           This kernel parameter specifies how large an individual SysV Shared Memory Segment is allowed to be. In the case of an STD implementation, the parameter must be set sufficiently large in order to allow em/initial_size_MB. The value is specified in the unit Bytes so that "21474836480", for example, permits segments of 20 GB.

I am thinking to tune kernel.shmall to 90% of RAM+swap, and kernel.shmmax to 90% of RAM. Also will be setting the following parameters as well:

kernel.msgmni=1024

kernel.sem=1250 256000 100 1024

1. Parameter kernel.sem corresponds to "semmsl semmns semopm semmni"

vm.max_map_count=1000000

Does anyone out there have any different experiences or tips on how they set these up, specific to Livecache? The SAP application tuning is pretty straightforward, but wanted to make sure we didn't overlook anything with Livecache.

I have installed SAP Netweaver developer Studio 6.40 which installed MAXDB database also. Due to some reason I had to unistall the trial version of Developer studio, in this process developer studio got unistalled but not MAXDB.

I use Add/Remove programs and uninstall MaxDB. I get the messages like this.....

Start uninstallation now (y/n) : Y (resoponse)

then message displays

found instance of J2E, cannot remove package..first remove all instances...

I have stopped all the services, even then Iam getting such error message. How do I uninstall?

I am trying to install SAP  trial version . While installation of MAXDB serve , I am getting an error " Some database application might still be running"

I dont have any other database installed on my system .

Hi gurues, I'm facing this issue with an IDES on MaxDB with Windows.

System was up and running until someone tries to make an upgrade of the kernel. Since then we can not start our system. we tried to rollback kernel release to the previous one but it didn't work.

When we start our system from MMC console we can see all process in green but work processes are in RUN state and after a few minutes they goes down with the following error
