MaxDB database studio usermanagement errors
Hi,
I (succesfully, as far as I can tell) installed MaxDB on a Windows 7 Professional x64 Vmware virtual PC (maxdb-all-win-64bit-x86_64-7_8_02_28) and now want to also install MaxDB database studio (maxdb-studio-win-64bit-x86_64-7_9_08_01). While the installation seems to finish successfully, I'm running into errors after starting (as administrator). First error is
'Loading preference values failed; default values will be used
Reason:
Missing object type: :Loader'
then
'Could not read preferences
Reason:
Missing object type: :SQLSTUDIO'
The Event log viewer shows warnings about the utilities path not specified and again Errors about 'Missing object type:: preferences'
While Eclipse then starts up, it is not possible to work with the locally installed DB (which seems to be detectect, however). Again there are errors about
'Missing object type::preferences' as well as
'Could not load mounted Local Folders'
'Can not get registration preferences'
'Get login attributes failed'
'User management exception: Missing object tye::UM_CONNECTION_KEY_REPLACE_WITH_DATABASE_NAME'
Searching the web using these errors does result in too much help, , unfortunately, for UM_CONNECTION_KEY_REPLACE_WITH_DATABASE_NAME I do net get a single hit with google.
First I thought my Java SDK 1.7, is too recent, so I uninstalled DB studio and Java and tried again with Oracle jdk-6u37-windows-x64, but I'm getting the same errors. I also noted that, as it seems, the DB Studio remembered the password from the previous installation. It did not ask for a new one during the new installation but asked for the old one after I started it (I consider this a bug).
Any ideas anyone? Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe I should also note that at first I had a broken MaxDB installation (it failed to load the system tables), which I uninstalled, however and reinstalled (then succesfully).

MaxDB 7.9 error when importing data from MaxDB 7.6
Hello,
I got an strange error while importing data in MaxDB version 7.9 from an MaxDB version 7.6.
The error is caused by a column with a date format.
The message in detail is:

Can anyone help to solve this issue ?

How to obtain log overwrite mode from DBMCLI?

in case I have no DB studio at hand and need to use DBMCLI to connect to a MaxDB:
How can I get the status of the log overwrite mode?
I'm able to set it via
db_execute SET LOG WRITER OFF/ ON

Schema user passwords are changed after import by loader
Hello,
after migration from MaxDB7.6 to MaxDB7.9 via loader, the schema user passwords are not valid any more.
How can we avoid that passwords are changed or is there a easy way to set them to the original value ?

Client connection to MaxDB7.9 is very slow
Hello,
does any one have an idea why a connection via sqlcli -n hostname -d dbname to the MaxDB (Version 7.9), from remote client is so slow.
I checked that there is no firewall between and traceroute is showing even quick response. It is independent if I use hostname
or IP address. So I guess it is not a network related issue.
Connections to the old environment with MaxDB version 7.6 is fast as usual.
Is there a kind of tracing which I can enable to see what is happening during the first connect?
Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi gurues, I'm facing this issue with an IDES on MaxDB with Windows.
System was up and running until someone tries to make an upgrade of the kernel. Since then we can not start our system. we tried to rollback kernel release to the previous one but it didn't work.
When we start our system from MMC console we can see all process in green but work processes are in RUN state and after a few minutes they goes down with the following error

so backup is failing because "cannot open xparam file". i have searched the whole system. couldn't fine anything releant there. i have searched service marketplace and understood that X_PARAM is used for APO 1.1. this in SCM 7.0 . so not relevant.

Uninstalling MaxDB
Hi,
I have installed SAP Netweaver developer Studio 6.40 which installed MAXDB database also. Due to some reason I had to unistall the trial version of Developer studio, in this process developer studio got unistalled but not MAXDB.

found instance of J2E, cannot remove package..first remove all instances...

I have stopped all the services, even then Iam getting such error message. How do I uninstall?

Upgrade from 7.3 to 7.9
Guys,
I have to upgrade a 32 bit 7.3 instance on 2003 to 64 bit 7.9 (for Content Server usage) - there is no 7.4 MaxDB that I can see on sapnet. Can anyone suggest an upgrade strategy? Does anyone have any experience of such a huge jump?

MaxDB cache pinning
I've done a bit of research on MaxDB cache pinning but I am still not clear on a few items. I'm hoping the community can offer some advice.
1. What is the best way to determine which tables to pin? Some of the documentation leads me to believe you should use tables with high reads and low writes, but other documentation mentions high access tables. Is the term "access" referring to a combination of read and writes?

MaxDB 7.3 Restore issue
Hi,
I'm trying to restore a 7.3 MaxDB across to a test server so that I can upgrade the Content Server. I'm getting the following error :
-24988 sql erro [util_execute INIT CONFIG]; -902,Message not available,wrong path specified.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to MaxDB and the there are very little resources out there for 7.3

PHP : enabling MaxDB access.
Hi All,
I am trying to enable MaxDB along with PHP.

But the link to http://pecl4win.php.net
is broken and hence i am unable to proceed.
Also i am unable to install SAP MaxDB SQLDBC software on my system.
Can you kindly suggest some better documentation on how to proceed from here?

Error while creating database instance during PI instalation
Hi Team,
I am in the installation phase of SAP PI with MAXDB as back end.In the
phase "create database instance" i am facing the following issue
"An error occurred while processing option SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver
PI/Mobile/Banking 7.1 > MaxDB > SAP Systems > Process Integration >
Standard System > Standard System( Last error reported by the step:
Error during execution of command identifier 'ACTIVATE'"
Can you help me in resolving this issue at the earliest.Also i have attached
the sapinst_dev log filke in this incident along with the
error screenshot

Uninstalling MaxDB
Hi,
I have installed SAP Netweaver developer Studio 6.40 which installed MAXDB database also. Due to some reason I had to unistall the trial version of Developer studio, in this process developer studio got unistalled but not MAXDB.

I use Add/Remove programs and uninstall MaxDB. I get the messages like this.....
Start uninstallation now (y/n) : Y (resoponse)
then message displays
found instance of J2E, cannot remove package..first remove all instances...

I have stopped all the services, even then Iam getting such error message. How do I uninstall?
Help needed.

MaxDB cache pinning
I've done a bit of research on MaxDB cache pinning but I am still not clear on a few items. I'm hoping the community can offer some advice.
1. What is the best way to determine which tables to pin? Some of the documentation leads me to believe you should use tables with high reads and low writes, but other documentation mentions high access tables. Is the term "access" referring to a combination of read and writes?
2. Is there a way to determine if a table is currently in the regular cache area versus the pin cache area? If it is already in the regular cache most of the time, it might not be valuable to pin it.
