Today our Database crashed and is now in a similar state like described here http://scn.sap.com/thread/1669772. It seems to keep crashing on log recovery during db_online. It for sure has at least one bad index, but since we are unable to bring it online, we seem to have no chance to fix this. I would be thankfull for any hints.

• If we try a consistency check in admin mode it stumbles over one bad index complaining on root node 13113447, but of course we cannot repair that in admin state or even find out which index is to blame (can we?):

Is there any way to restore without indexes or to have all indexes recreated? Any hints how to still bring the original DB back online?

I need to set automatic backup in MaxDB, i have seen automatic option for logs but not for Full database, Can anyone explain how we can do this.

I want Full backup on daily basis along with logs.

The maxDB database is not starting,

When I type

dbmcli -n mgiusdgrc1 -d CME -u superdba,<passwd> db_online, I get the following error.

I tried to rename the file CME.dbm.shi, but it did not work.

Currently we have 8 GB of physical memory RAM allocated on Wndows 2008 Server and paging size specified is 16 GB.

1- Can anyone help in resolving the above shared memory error?

2- Are there any logfiles and specific error messages that I need to check, to resolve the MaxDB startup issue error.

so backup is failing because "cannot open xparam file". i have searched the whole system. couldn't fine anything releant there. i have searched service marketplace and understood that X_PARAM is used for APO 1.1. this in SCM 7.0 . so not relevant.

google is also failed for this.

I use a 32 bits IDE witch connect to MaxDB using ODBC, so i need the 32 bit driver to create a 32 bits ODBC datasource.

Everything was OK, until ia receive a brand new computer, running... Windows 7 64 bits.

When i try to install MaxDb client (7.6.06.22), i have this message:

Cannot create package tree: unresolved dependency: package "Database connectivity" not found.

I've also tried version 7.8.02.21, and i get another message:

Software isn't runnable on your system.

What must i do ?

I am performing a system copy of Live cache from production to an FDR landscape. We are on AIX 7.1 and maxdb 7.9. I have been performing the system copy as per the SAP notes 886103 and post cloning as per 877203.

Status till now: I have copied the file systems from source machine to target machine one on one.

When i try unregistering the live cache instance it's throwing the error as below:

The above was performed as root user.

However if i try performing the same using sidadm i get a different error and thats as below:

One of our development systems was recently upgraded to EHP5. We had also completed the upgrade using one sandbox system which is a copy of DEV system.

After the systems were upgraded to EHP5, we are finding that the Program RFCEXEC vanishing from EXE directory. And Because of this, XI connectivity fails. Is this due to the EHP5 upgrade? Please help me in this.

In Phase MAIN_SHDPREPUT/START_SHDI_PREPUT i get Severe Error becuase the shadow instance won't get up.

i did some research and found SAP Note 1444798:

I tryed this Solution and added the Xuser Keys for UPGSHD

When i try to test connection i get this Error:

dbmcli -d EMT -U UPGSHD

Error! Connection failed to node SAPTEST01 for database EMT:

-24950, ERR_USRFAIL: User authorization failed.

do you have any ideas?

is there a way to use the Maxdb C-Precompiler in Maxdb 7.6 (linx) or higher ?

Our customer use Maxdb 7.5.00.44 (linux) and C-Precompiler,  they would like to migrate to 7.6 or higher Maxdb.

Hello,

We upgraded our livecache to 7.9 build 17. The scm side is upgraded 713 SP3. After we upgraded the livecache, when we start

livecache from LC10, livecache db starts up but when it starting dbnalyzer (dban_start ...), it crashes livecache and stop livecache. We can start

and stop livecache from dbmcli and livecache performs fine without dbanayzer. We also noticed after the upgrade, 7.9 does not like the maxcpu parameter =6. We had to lower that to 1 to start livecache as well.      

Steps for Reconstruction    

go to LC10 or dbanalyzer, try to start livecache or DB

Hello All.

After restoring the DB while i m trying to bring the SAP Instance up, i m getting "DB-Connect Failed, Return Code 000256" in Syslog.

Can anyone tell me how this can be solved.

The DB is MaxDB 7.6.05.15 & SAP ECC 6.0.

P.S I tried to add the Developer Trace with this message but somehow i couldn't.

Today our Database crashed and is now in a similar state like described here http://scn.sap.com/thread/1669772. It seems to keep crashing on log recovery during db_online. It for sure has at least one bad index, but since we are unable to bring it online, we seem to have no chance to fix this. I would be thankfull for any hints.

• If we try a consistency check in admin mode it stumbles over one bad index complaining on root node 13113447, but of course we cannot repair that in admin state or even find out which index is to blame (can we?):

• We even tried to recover our last backup (with AUTO_RECREATE_BAD_INDEXES set to YES) but as soon as we try to for instance drop the index we assume to be bad it immediately crashes and is unstartable again like above.

Is there any way to restore without indexes or to have all indexes recreated? Any hints how to still bring the original DB back online?

Recently we are facing some backup issues with backup tool COMMVAULT backing up database MAXDB. This problem is really strange as it happens intermittent. In Phase MAIN_SHDPREPUT/START_SHDI_PREPUT i get Severe Error becuase the shadow instance won't get up.

I have installed SAP Netweaver developer Studio 6.40 which installed MAXDB database also. Due to some reason I had to unistall the trial version of Developer studio, in this process developer studio got unistalled but not MAXDB.

I use Add/Remove programs and uninstall MaxDB. I get the messages like this.....

Start uninstallation now (y/n) : Y (resoponse)

then message displays

found instance of J2E, cannot remove package..first remove all instances...

I have stopped all the services, even then Iam getting such error message. How do I uninstall?

I've got to migrate a 6.3 Content Server (based on 7.6 MaxDB) on Windows 2003 (which according to the PAM isn't supported but has been working ok). Into a 7.9 MaxDB on Windows 2012 R2. We might have to go to 2008 first, then 2012

There is very little info out there on whether The Content Server 6.3 currently (6.4 maintenance will soon end) will be supported on 2008, but I'm not sure that this will matter as long as the MaxDB side is correct.

I've read somewhere that from 7.5 you can drop a any version into 7.9? - is this true?...could someone help out on a possible upgrade path, strategy?
